Afrikaans singer, Steve Hofmeyr is expected to appear at the Bronkhorstpruit Magistrate’s Court, east of Pretoria on Monday.
The musician was arrested for speeding two weeks ago in Bronkhorstspruit while on his way to a music festival in Badplaas, Mpumalanga.
It is alleged he was driving at a speed of 169 kilometers per hour in a 80 Kilometer zone. Hofmeyr will appear on charges of reckless driving and for exceeding the general speed limit.
After being released on bail of R500 on the same night, he released a statement saying his actions were irresponsible and dangerous.
On the same night, Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema, was also arrested for the same offence in the Vaal.
Malema was driving at 215 kilometres per hour in a 120 kilometres zone.
His case has been postponed to late January for the director of public prosecutions to make a decision.
