Google CEO promises to fix 'error' on its cheeseburger emoji

The CEO of Google has assured internet users that it will address a problem with its cheeseburger emoji after a man's tweet about the image went viral.

The eagle-eyed mobile phone user noticed the discrepancy between the cheeseburger emoji Apple uses and the one Google uses.

Twitter user Thomas Baekdal wrote: "I think we need to have a discussion about how Google's burger emoji is placing the cheese underneath the burger, while Apple puts it on top".

The tweet was quick to go viral, mustering up over 27,000 likes and manage to catch the attention of Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

Google chief Sundar Pichai responded to the tweet, saying he was happy to fix the error "if folks can agree on the correct way to do this".

He joked he would "drop everything else we're doing" and address the error on Monday.

While it's not known if Google will actually change their emoji, thousands replied to Pichai's tweet with their own thoughts.

Another person said: "You put the cheese on the top of burger while cooking. Otherwise cheese doesn’t melt."

"They're both wrong. Google's cheese is wrong, Apple's lettuce is wrong. The correct order, from bottom up, is burger - cheese - toppings."

Google employees also got in on the joke, saying: "So proud to work at a company which has it's priorities right."

To put it in perspective, Apple, Facebook, and Samsung place cheese on top of the patty of their cheeseburger emojis.

Google appears to be the only tech company that offers the cheese below the patty.
