Originally announced back in September, EA and developer Mythic have formally shut down the servers for the pair’s massively multiplayer online RPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
The official reason for shuttering the servers and putting the game to bed was down to a licensing deal with Warhammer owner Games Workshop. According to Mythic, the licensing agreement was to come to an end on December 18th, 2013 – a date that has just passed – and no extended deal was pursued by either party.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning was originally launched back on September 18th, 2008, and aimed to bring sweeping changes to the world of MMORPGs, not least of which was the promise of Realm-VS-Realm battles.
