Until recently the officers have been appearing in courts as prosecutors on behalf of DPP, but now they are reportedly sifting focus to their core mandate of investigation leaving the DPP to struggle with the increase of workload.

He explained that there were about 8600 cases while they have only about 150 prosecutors.

“This means that there is about 65 cases per prosecutor which is not easy for the department,” he said.

Tiroyakgosi said for the department to ease the workload they will need about 300 prosecutors in total at least not that it would be enough.
